Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. By the time she was nine years old, the family of Decker resided in Louisiana which was where she took home an annual regional talent competition with the song Patsy Montana's "I Want to Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker lived in Georgia at the age of aged 15. Decker began to write songs and making frequent trips to Nashville in search of a record deal. In 1997, she'd just turned 17 years old when a Big Yellow Dog Records rep heard her. He started selling her songs and music to a variety of artists and record labels. Decker's demos, which were heard from Mercury Records president David Massey and then handed over to L.A. Reid of Island/Def Jam group affiliated label group L.A. Reid was able to bind Decker to an agreement. Then, in August of 2009 she launched her self-titled debut album, titled Jessie James. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a hit single within the Top 40 Singles Charts was moderately well-received. Decker was always considered a "country" artist but this album was produced and promoted for a pop audience. After two more singles from the album stiffed Decker battled with label executives to have more control of her music. the next track Boys in the Summer was more of a country-centric release. Decker's second studio album was announced with the title Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury was able to cancel it, and three of Decker's country tracks failed. Her album was eventually released.
